CURRICULUM VITAE

Fabio Melis is a Roman singer-songwriter born in Rome on April 4, 1979.

A lover of classical American rock, his musical career began in 1997 when he founded Skies, a band with which he performed in the capital’s live clubs proposing covers of various artists including Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bruce Springsteen, Eagles, Jackson Browne, Bob Seger, Southside Johnny, Little Steven, Bryan Adams and Bon Jovi.

His maternal grandmother's premature death in 1998 led him to write his first original song dedicated to her entitled "Sweet Caroline". In 2001 the song became the opening theme song of the radio show DEMO l'acchiappatalenti broadcast on Radio 1 and subsequently the song was included on the Best of Demo CD.

Driven by love and admiration for his favourite artist, in 2004 he founded the E Streets of Fire together with Fabio Brencio, a monographic tribute band dedicated to Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band with which he enjoyed performing for years in the most important live clubs in Rome and other places.

Over the years Fabio Melis wrote a great number of original pieces performed several times live without ever being released. In 2019 he decided to begin recording his first album of unreleased pieces entitled Runaway Train which included 14 of his best songs. The album featured the participation of the Asbury Jukes Horns who agreed to take part in the project by recording the entire wind section on the song "Lovin' Eyes". John Isley (Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes) also played his tenor sax on 6 of the album's 14 songs. The album was finally completed and is awaiting release.
