CURRICULUM VITAE
The Freddocane project came into being on a cold and unspecified day back in March 2009 with the intention of developing its own sounds, which have strong Stoner-Rock origins with frequent intrusions into other genres. More than a crossover, here we are dealing with the true search for a sound in which all the influences of the three musicians participate, even those that are different from each other: Ivano Colombi (guitars, synthesizers and various noises), Beppe Fratus (vocals and bass) and Stefano Guidi (drums). In December 2009, the band released the six-song EP of the same name. Once more in December but 2010, the band shut itself up in the GB Records studio and this time recorded the album of the same name. Recording did not take long, the material was ready and only needed to be put on a base maintaining a certain freshness and spontaneity, without too many tweaks or excessive overdubs. The result was a precise hour of Freddocane: rock, grunge, psychedelia, stoner, blues and funky, post-rock and avant-garde, dodecaphony, atonal and aleatoric music, a heterogeneous but compact mix. The lyrics were inspired by Kerouacian “spontaneous prose”, but also by Bukowski's nervous, dry, and almost journalistic style. There was also no lack of experimentation almost always of beatnik imprint such as cut-up, as well as a certain sense of irony both in the contents and in the use of neologisms and wordplay that almost always are advanced by assonances and / or dissonances. The album's release was scheduled for January 31, 2012, the album was received favourably by almost all the critics and the excellent reviews in both webzines and hard copy newspapers prove it. 2012 was devoted to the live promotion of the album also favourably received by the general public at concerts. In August 2012, due to being over-committed to Caponord which signed with Warner, Stefano Guidi was forced to leave the project and was replaced by Alessandro Belotti for the remainder of the promotional tour. The new line-up immediately began doing what it does best, recording jam sessions and developing new material from these. In early 2013 the band secluded itself in a studio to record a dozen new songs for the new album, which was released in December 2014.
The album was entitled Freddocane2. Afterwards in 2019 the third work Freddocane 3 also came into being, but the album was promoted only with a single date at the Druso Club in Ranica (BG) opening for Omar Pedrini; album promotion unfortunately came to a halt due to the events of 2020.
