CURRICULUM VITAE

RENATO TAMMI

He started listening to music at a very early age and when all the other kids were being given toys, he asked for record players and 45s. He discovered Bruce Springsteen and rock music at the age of 9. At the age of 13 he got his first electric guitar and his first band on that same afternoon he bought the instrument. Fascinated more by live music, he made his stage debut at the age of 14. From that moment, he has never stopped. He has played in many bands, going from punk and Italian rock covers to a magnificent experience of unreleased songs with Cubica3 that lasted about ten years; always, in all experiences, as a guitar player. In the meantime, he studied guitar with several teachers, most notably his friend and well-known professional Tony Degru. The turning point was at around the age of 30 when he joined the Rolling Stones tribute band Dirty Licks as a singer; the band is still active today.

In 2010, he finally achieved his dream of being able to play, together with seven other top-level musicians, the repertoire of Bruce Springsteen, the artist he looks up to most in absolute. The Spring Street Band quickly achieved unexpected success amongst Springsteen fans and others. He has performed in the best Italian clubs and theatres and played for many consecutive years at Rimini’s landmark event, Glory Days, never missing an edition of Trieste Calling The Boss. He also prides himself on having collaborated with two major artists who have worked directly with Springsteen: Jake Clemons (current saxophonist of the E Street Band) and Vini Lopez (historical drummer of the E Street Band). He also won the first edition of the Cover Me contest organized by NOI&Springsteen.

Renato’s guitar playing draws purely from 60s and 70s rock and blues musicians; to name a few, Clapton, Hendrix, Richards, and the list goes on.

In 2012, he opened a musical association with the aim of teaching music in Turin, the Galleria dei Suoni, which became a very important cornerstone for his musical life, as he is its president and guitar teacher, as well as artistic director.

Renato is also frontman for the Wooden Brothers, an original music project, which has the eponymous Wooden Brothers under its belt and has just released its second work. The band performs regularly on stages all over Italy. He is also the frontman for other bands such as TAD, a rock trio with a very entertaining repertoire, 69 Chevy, a 50s/60s rock and roll band, and the recently formed Three Sixty Trio. For some time now he has also been deejaying for parties and theme nights.
